ASBURY PARK, NJ — U.S. Senator Cory Booker and N.J. First Lady Tammy Murphy will serve as co-chairs of Garden State Equality’s 20th Anniversary Honorary Host Committee, the LGBTQ+ advocacy organization announced today.
Garden State Equality’s 20th Anniversary Celebration kicks off at the Equality Ball on Friday, May 31, at The Asbury Hotel in Asbury Park. The Equality Ball is the organization’s premier event and largest annual fundraiser, which some have described as New Jersey’s “gay Met Gala.” Featuring soon-to-be-announced special guests and performances, moments of commemorating Garden State Equality’s past and looking toward the future, awards for New Jersey’s LGBTQ+ trailblazers, dancing, and an abundance of queer joy, the Equality Ball is an event you don’t want to miss!
“We are so grateful to have Senator Booker and First Lady Murphy join us as co-chairs of our 20th Anniversary Honorary Host Committee,” said Executive Director Christian Fuscarino (he/him). “These two champions of equality have been integral to the success of the LGBTQ+ rights movement both in New Jersey and nationally, so for them to help us celebrate two decades of fighting for equality is an honor.”
Following the Equality Ball, the organization’s 20th Anniversary Celebration will continue throughout the year, promising a remarkable series of events. It will bring together a diverse group of supporters, community leaders, and change-makers, all of whom share a common goal: to ensure that every LGBTQ+ individual is treated with dignity, respect, and love.
