After advocacy by Garden State Equality and our supporters calling on our federal representatives to ask the federal government for New Jersey’s fair share of monkeypox vaccines, Sen. Cory Booker and Rep. Mikie Sherrill sent a letter to Secretary for Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra doing just that.
High-risk populations and communities that face barriers to accessing healthcare need easier access to vaccinations, and having more vaccines in the state will help with that. We commend Sen. Booker and Rep. Sherrill for letting the federal government know why New Jersey needs a similar percentage of vaccine allocation to our neighbors in New York City and Philadelphia.
Every one of New Jersey’s representatives in Congress should be joining Sen. Booker and Rep. Sherrill in asking for us to get our fair share of vaccines, so please contact your legislators now! Even if you live in Rep. Sherrill’s district, you can still send a message to Sen. Bob Menendez.
